How It Works
Receive SMS from inReach
A Garmin inReach device sends an SMS message via the Iridium satellite network. The message is delivered to a dedicated toll-free phone number operated by this service.
Forward to Your API
The bridge receives the inbound SMS and forwards the message content as an HTTP request to your configured REST API endpoint for processing.
Reply Automatically
Your API processes the message and returns a response. The bridge sends the reply back as an SMS to the inReach device, completing the two-way communication loop.

SMS Messaging Details
This service uses a dedicated toll-free phone number to send and receive SMS messages with Garmin inReach satellite devices.
Inbound Messages
SMS messages sent from inReach devices are received on a toll-free number and forwarded to your registered API endpoint via HTTPS webhook. Messages contain the sender identifier and message text.
Outbound Messages
API responses are sent back to the inReach device as SMS replies from the same toll-free number. Messages are subject to inReach character limits (approximately 160 characters per segment).
Consent & Opt-Out
Users initiate communication by sending a message to the toll-free number from their inReach device. Standard opt-out keywords (STOP, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE) are honored. No unsolicited messages are sent.
Message Volume
This is a low-volume, user-initiated messaging service. Traffic consists of individual satellite communicator users sending and receiving operational messages on a person-to-application (P2A) basis.
